Morocco is hosting the International Conference on Renewable Energy (IRSEC), which will be held remotely from November 23 to 27.
November 19, 21 and 22 will be devoted to tutorials and other related activities, while the official virtual inauguration of the event will start on November 23.
About 40 international experts will attend the virtual conference to present the latest technologies in the fields of renewable energy, energy storage, and energy efficiency.
A varied scientific program is expected and several workshops and special sessions are scheduled.
Thousands of participants across the globe are expected to participate remotely.
The previous edition of IRSEC saw the participation of more than 1,500 participants from 76 countries.
The 2021 IRSEC is sponsored by Morocco’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and supported by IEEE Power Energy Society, the world's leading body in the field of energy, note the organizers.
The conference is organized by the Mediterranean Area of Technology and Innovation (MSTI) in partnership with the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), Mohammed V University in Rabat, Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tetouan, and several other national and international organizations.
Morocco’s renewable energy sector has thrived in recent years. British audit firm Ernst & Young (EY) has just ranked the North African country as the most attractive location for renewable energy investments in the MENA region.
EY’s report attributed Morocco’s high performances in the renewable sector to the country’s onshore and offshore wind energy facilities, as well as its solar energy, hydropower, geothermal, and biomass facilities.
Last month, Morocco’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development announced an innovative plan to use biomass to create renewable and sustainable energy.
Morocco’s continuous efforts to promote renewable energy and combat climate change are strengthening the country’s position as a leader in the African continent and worldwide.
